How to lessen pre-surgery anxiety

Plastic surgery, whether it be a tummy tuck procedure or a facelift, is a serious undertaking, so it's normal to feel nervous in the days and hours leading up to the surgery itself. While it may seem like nothing can lower your anxiety as the procedure inches closer, there are a few methods you can try out.

Listening to music has long been a go-to activity to help reduce stress, and that works for the run up to surgery as well. It does not really matter what song or artist you choose – as long as it puts you at ease, it will likely help relieve some tension.

In addition to putting on some tunes, you may want to consider going for a walk if you feel stress welling up inside. Getting out of the house is a great way to clear your head and you'll be able to work through any of the anxiety you have about your upcoming procedure.

Finally, remember to ask questions when meeting with your surgeon. If you're feeling nervous about any particular aspect of your surgery, the best thing you can do is talk to your doctor about it. Discussing what's making you worry may help alleviate the stress.
