A Nevada-based plastic surgeon recently announced she will be offering a new type of liposuction – SmartLipo. This new technique uses laser energy to reduce fat pockets and improve the contoured appearance. This method can also reduce recovery time and may leave behind less bruising than traditional liposuction.
SmartLipo targets a specific area where the fat has been resistant to diet and exercise. The overall effectiveness allows for a smoother, tighter and firmer body contour, and can help some patients achieve their desired results.
Regardless of whether the patient is opting for the new technique or traditional liposuction, the plastic surgeon advises individuals to seek out a board certified surgeon.
"In choosing a board certified surgeon, patients will know this plastic surgeon has completed at least five years of surgical training with a minimum of two years in plastic surgery – they will know the surgeon has been trained in all cosmetic enhancement procedures, operates only in accredited medical facilities, adheres to a strict code of ethics, and fulfills rigorous continuing education requirements," said the Nevada-based plastic surgeon.
A popular trend as of late involves people undergoing both liposuction and a tummy tuck procedure while under the knife. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, abdominoplasty is perfect for those who have loose skin around their stomach area, which can be a result of stubborn body fat, extreme weight loss and pregnancy. Those who want to tighten their muscles and achieve an overall sleek appearance may want to opt for both procedures.
Every case is different depending on the individual, so patients should talk to their doctor to determine if they can undergo both treatments at once.
