While tummy tuck procedures may not be the most popular type of plastic surgery, surveys have shown that it is consistently one of the highest with regards to patient satisfaction afterwards. That's corroborated by the recent findings of one Baltimore-based plastic surgeon, who says his tummy tuck patients are nearly always positive about their decision after they get the surgery.
Large weight fluctuations are a problem for many people, even with procedures like liposuction readily available for people looking to lose weight. The issue is that even if people lose a large amount of weight, whether through diet or liposuction, the excess skin around their abdomen can still make their body appear unsightly. Many people are able to shed pounds with no problem, but when it comes to achieving that tight look that many desire, it can be quite difficult. This is where the tummy tuck comes into play.
"The results people see after a tummy tuck can be dramatic, especially for patients who are diligent with their diet and exercise regimens," says the plastic surgeon. "Abdominoplasty can help tighten and flatten the entire abdominal area, creating a narrower, healthier-looking waist."
While the results of a tummy tuck are undeniable, some patients may be on the fence about getting the procedure. There's no getting around the fact that tummy tuck costs can be significant, and patients will also have to prepare themselves for recovery from a tummy tuck.
Yet those who go through with the surgery ultimately report it's worth it. A recent Harris Interactive poll of those who had completed an abdominoplasty shows that 85 percent of patients felt they had made the right call, the second highest of all surgeries. That figure rose for those who underwent a "mommy makeover," which is a combination liposuction and tummy tuck – 91 percent of recipients thought this surgery was worth the time and money.
That high rate of satisfaction is backed up by those who underwent the procedure with the Baltimore-based surgeon.
"I've had multiple follow-ups with patients who are ecstatic about how much better they look and feel after a tummy tuck in Baltimore," said the surgeon. "Both male and female patients have told me that their new looks boost their confidence and even help them feel healthier."
